Old Jeep
onward 4x4
Jan 22, 2020
When I was a kid, a family friend had an orange manual Jeep and we rode in it without wearing seat belts and no top--just bunch of kids piled up in the orange Jeep going places. The adult with us was not concerned with our safety--or perhaps he was concerned but the threshold of his concern did not reach un-belted kids in a Jeep with no top on... We did have a roll bar though.

Fast forward many years and I find myself in Los Angeles in the early 1990s and was introduced once again the Jeep pictured above. A girl friend of mine at the time owned this Jeep and had it shipped from Chicago to Los Angeles. It was a perfect vehicle for LA and it was a lot fun driving it, specially with no doors!

At that time I did not think I will ever be in a Jeep again until 2014 when I got my first Jeep with which I traveled to New York and Washington DC during the last elections and inauguration and then traveled to North Dakota during the Standing Rock protests. Sleeping in the Jeep was particularly pleasant--cold but pleasant and comfortable. I am now preparing for my epic road trip and I was reminiscing about the past Jeeps with which I had experience.
